I recently joined a wine club and I'm digging it! Thank you Lori! Shopping online at my leisure in the comfort of my own home, discovering new and exclusive wines and having them shipped directly to my door = Happiness in Every Sip. I borrowed that line from WineShop at Home, the club I joined, it's a true statement.
WineShop At Home, founded in 2005, is headquartered in the legendary Napa Valley. The winery, owned by the Fredrick family of Dallas, Texas, produces award-winning, exclusive, artisan wines across 50 brands. Their wines have won over 200 awards in national and international wine competions! And they've got everything to please any wine preference, choose from sweet and bubbly to dry and crisp whites, smooth and supple to bold and intense reds. WineShop at Home features artisan wines for every occasion, palate and personality.
In my monthly shipment I get four bottles of fantastic wine - I've NEVER been disappointed - two whites and two reds and a recent shipment included a REALLY good Chardonnay from the Albion label. Here's the description from the WineShop at Home website:
This 2019 Albion Chardonnay was made from a single vineyard located in the northwest area of Lodi.
The terroir has lower fertility and ideal winegrowing soils, ranging from heavier clay-based soils to well-drained stony soils. This stainless steel tank-aged Chardonnay received a precise oak treatment to enhance its flavors and its ageing potential. Aged on its own lees for six months, this wine has a powerful, rich nose offering citrus and fruit characters like lemon, grapefruit, lime, apricot and pear. The oak addition brings notes of fresh meringue, tobacco leaves and crème caramel. The sur lies method enhances the mouthfeel with a round attack, length and a medium to intense finish. Along with some minerality, a nice hint of acidity perks up at the very end.
Enjoy it with grilled fish, scallops, or a cheese platter.
The grapes for this wine are grown in the Lodi wine region, which is located 100 miles east of San Franciso near the San Joaquin River Delta. A major winegrape growing region since the 1850's, annual yields from Lodi comprises 20% of California's total wine grape production, more than Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. In other words, when you're drinking a wine made with Lodi grapes, it's no ordinary wine!
My Ladyfriend and I enjoyed this wine with some Asian Chicken topped with a Vanilla Apricot Sauce and that pairing made for a phenomenal meal! The fruity characters of the wine was a PERFECT match with the chicken and that sauce - it was another dose of YUM!
Palate pleasing, the Albion Chardonnay from Lodi is another MUST TRY from WineShop at Home and I'm giving it 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars. It's a FANTASTIC Chardonnay!
